After only 6 days of existence, Eat My Science! is already an award winning site! OK, the Liebster Award may not require dressing up and cruising the red carpet, but it is a pretty cool deal.
The Liebster Award
The Liebster Award allows new bloggers to nominate and recognize other bloggers who have been blogging less than 2 years and have less than 200 followers. Nominated newbies get to acknowledge the blog that nominated them, answer a set of questions, then nominate other new blogs to carry on the chain! It is the digital equivalent of a chain letter, only cooler because you can customize it, and you get to learn about cool new blogs.
Eat My Science! was nominated by Pack Your Baguios, a travel blog from jet-setting, world-traveled Carmen and Joe Baguio (pronounced bag-e-o). Carmen is so comfortable traveling the world that she does it with middle schoolers every year. That blows my mind. Check out their blog and like them on Facebook!
It is quite an honor to me to be nominated since we’ve been up less than a week. Thank you Pack Your Baguios for the nomination! Now to answer your questions:
What benefits will readers get from reading your blog?
Readers will gain a better understanding of how their bodies work so they can make better choices when it comes to what they eat. It’s easier for me to avoid eating something if I know what it will actually do to my body once I shove it in my pie hole. I thought I’d share that perspective.
What is one of your favorite memories from childhood?
When I was about 6 or 7 my mom took my brother and me to San Diego to visit her best friend. It was the first time I remember being on a plane, the first time I saw the ocean, and we went to Sea World where a walrus spit in my brother’s face. I remember a lot of laughter and fun on that trip.
Describe an ideal weekend
That depends. Ideal romantic weekend? Ideal family weekend? Ideal personal weekend? No matter which one, I’d say the ideal weekend involves someone else doing the cooking.
If you had use of a web designer for a day, what improvement would you have done to your blog?
I would get a sticky menu at the top of my page, add a ton of pictures, make my logo fully responsive because for some reason it’s not… and anything else their expert eye could find to improve.
What is the last movie or TV show that you watched?
Big Hero 6
How would your friends describe you?
I think smart? Maybe a little funny sometimes?
What’s your favorite type of pampering?
Someone else cooking.
Where do you get most of your ideas for posts?
I wake up with them in my head.
Any hints for upcoming posts? What should readers expect to see on your website the next couple of weeks?
I have a huge list of topics, but in the next few weeks I will be covering what the liver does, the truth about sugars and what they do to your body, and I plan to report on the GMO study that just came out last week. Oh, and WATER, how much do we really need, and hopefully a coupon for my favorite water bottle – I’ve reached out to them and am waiting to hear back.
What keeps your attention when you’re reading someone else’s blog?
Good question. I think blogs that are well written and concise keep my attention. Posts that are too long lose me.
Dirt & Boogers
The official rules for the Liebster Award (you can find them at The Global Aussie) also allow me to share my favorite blog with you all. That is a no-brainer. As a mom, I often need to know I’m not crazy when it comes to dealing with my kids.
I stay sane at dirtandboogers.com. Amanda creates so much value for her readers, not just with free resources such as her gratitude journal, The Daily Gratitude Challenge Facebook group, and The Stop Yelling Challenge Facebook group, but she also has a very affordable eCourse and great books. Amanda and her resources make me a better person and a better mom.
She also has some new books coming out in the next few weeks, so sign up for her updates so you can get them when they come out!
